Tuechersfeld
Brewery Centre of the Fraenkische Schweiz
The "Fraenkische Schweiz Museum” of Tuechersfeld with its substantial regional collections belongs to the most worth seeing Franconian museums. It is accommodated in the so-called "Judenhof” ("Jewish Courtyard”). This remarkable ensemble of buildings, built in the 18th century, is placed beneath two soaring and distinctive tors. The "Judenhof” is one of the most famous landmarks of the Fraenkische Schweiz area, known all over the world.

The number of breweries in the Fraenkische Schweiz worldwide is unique: 71 beer breweries are placed on 2,000 square kilometres – world record. Depending on the hop and the water used by the brewers the brew always tastes a little different. Normally Franconian breweries are very, very small. The beer output of theses breweries often only meets the need of the restaurant or the inn, where it is brewed. But it tastes great.

Local History of Tuechersfeld
In the year 1243 Tuechersfeld is first proved by documents.

In 1262 two castles were proved by documents: Obertuechersfeld castle and Untertuechersfeld castle. Both burnt down in Peasants’ War (1525).

Untertuechersfeld castle was reconstructed but finally destroyed during Thirty Years’ War.

From 1750 to 1870 jews lived in the outbuildings of Untertuechersfeld castle. Therefore the castle in the vernacular is called "Judenhof” ("Jewish Courtyard”).
